What is Rhinoplasty?

Procedure
Rhinoplasty or nose surgery reshapes the nose by reducing or increasing its size, eliminating deviations, changing the shape of the tip or septum, narrowing the width of the holes or changing the angle between the nose and the upper lip. This procedure can also serve to improve some respiratory functional aspects if it is combined with the treatment of the nasal septum.
Duration
The intervention lasts approximately one hour and a half, although sometimes, it can be longer depending on the requirement of each patient.
Anesthesia
General anesthesia or intravenous sedation with local anesthesia.
Hospitalization
This procedure does not require hospitalization of the patient.
Side Effects
Possible effects associated with the procedure include:
- Numbness and swelling around the eyes
- Pain in adjoining areas
- Nasal skin numbness and bruising
- Mild bleeding
Risks
Infection, bleeding under the skin flap or at the incision site, scarring.
Recovery
The patient will be able to return to work in a period of one to two weeks and will be able to fully resume physical activities as well as intense exercise in an approximate period of four or six weeks. Results may vary according to each patient.
